Imagine...using PLAY as a tool for wellness? As adults sometimes the responsibilities of life seem overwhelming. In this experience, we will explore our strengths and learn how PLAY can be used to be well, be productive and lead more vibrant lives! During this 3 hour playshop expect to have FUN!

Instructor: Karen Bayard is a Comedienne & Facilitator of Fun! She designed and taught the first ever semester-long, for credit, college level Laughter Yoga course in the United States at Salt Lake Community College. Karen has created playshops and fun-infused training programs internationally for Trinity College, Huntsman Cancer Institute, ProBar, University of Utah, Western Governors University & Valley Mental Health. Karen also writes, produces & performs as a stand-up and improv comedian. As a Certified Laughter Yoga Teacher, Holistic Health Coach and former Board Member for the Association of Applied & Therapeutic Humor, Karen is passionate about the use of humor & play as tools for vibrant, inspired and purposeful living.

The body is THE feedback loop for all our senses. Our body tells us what feels good and what doesn't when we move. Aligning with yourself is key in the practice of yoga because only you know how it feels to be you.

When we take the time to understand the body THROUGH movement we can be the director of how we feel, choosing to align with what suits us so that our bodies thrive and we ultimately feel the freedom that lies within the lines.

Before teaching Asana full-time, Jenna McDonald was traveling the globe and teaching Breathwork to Yoga Communities, Schools and in Wilderness Programs to facilitate depth in Practice & Relationship and promote healthy, honest bonding within communities without the need for intoxicants.

The states available through this particular Breathwork are designed to:
Re-oxygenate the body, help flip unhealthy mental grooves and release past injury/trauma.

This workshop is designed to activate latent potential and gather insight by accessing an altered and therapeutic state of being.

The Yoga Sutras urge us to find a pranayama that evokes a natural pause in the breath, and thus uninhibited connection to source. This Pranayama is designed to do just that.

The breath pattern consists of 1) an open mouth breath 2) removing the pause at top and bottom of inhale and exhale 3) origin of breath from LOW belly and 4) relaxed exhale. All of these are applied with care so as not to create a hyper-ventilation pattern.

We use sound and movement to expand lung capacity and calm the nervous system.

In the beginning it is advised NOT to practice pranayama without facilitation because of the POWER of the breath to alter the body and mind.

What to Bring:

Comfortable loose clothing, a Pen & Paper and Water as this is a form of Reflective Journey Work.

What to Expect:

Geared towards those just beginning to explore leaving the ground as well as seasoned practitioners, this workshop is designed to give you the tools you need to successfully thumb your nose at gravity and most of all, have fun while doing it. 

 

In the workshop you will explore preparatory poses and move through exercises to develop the strength and flexibility you need to lift off the ground with grace and ease. You will learn how to create stability from your center using bandhas and your core, learn various progressions for inversion work, and explore different variations of handstand.
